Honorable Michael A. Tassin, Jr. Justice of the Peace
Michael A. Tassin, Jr. lives in Slidell, Louisiana with his wife and two children. Judge Tassin was elected Justice of Peace for Ward 8 of St. Tammany Parish in November 2015. Judge Tassin grew up in Slidell living and attending school in Ward 8 from kindergarten through high school, graduating from Northshore High School in 2005.
Judge Tassin graduated from law school in the Spring of 2013, took and passed the Louisiana Bar Exam that summer, and was sworn in as an attorney in October of 2013. Since then, he has been an active member of the Ward 8 community. Judge Tassin serves as President of the Board of Directors for the East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity, and he is President of the Ozone Camellia Club.
Judge Tassin is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Northshore, a 10-month program in St. Tammany Parish where community leaders learn more about themselves, leadership, and different aspects of the community ranging from social services, education, economic development, health care, and the judicial system. Program participants are also responsible for creating and executing a project that benefits the community. Judge Tassin’s group created the Slidell Jazz and Blues Festival.
Judge Tassin attended Louisiana State University for his undergraduate studies. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. He minored in Leadership Development. While at Louisiana State University, Judge Tassin participated in the Disney College Program in the Fall of 2007 where he learned about Disney corporate history, culture, and world class guest service. Judge Tassin was a watercraft pilot at the resort.
Judge Tassin attended law school at Loyola New Orleans College of Law, commuting daily from Slidell. At Loyola, Judge Tassin was an active participant in the Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic & Center for Social Justice as a Student Practitioner providing legal representation to indigent clients. Access to justice and fair representation are highly important to him.
